Black Hills Center for Equality, as part of our continual Community Outreach effort, will once again volunteer to be the liaison between the LGBT Community and the many guests that will be here for the Run Crazy Horse Memorial Marathon. We have sent notices to 40 plus LGBT Centers and Front Runner’s Walk/Run organizations in 36 cities inviting them to the Black Hills to partake in the marathon which will be held Sunday October 3rd, 2010. As we did for the Deadwood/Michelson Trail Marathon last spring, we will provide a team of volunteers the day of event to aid runners, assist in general duties and add the colors of pride to the event. We will start taking volunteer names after the 1st of September. Contact the Center at that time to register to help.
This will be the Inaugural – Run, Crazy Horse 13.1 & 26.2, Marathon, Half Marathon and 5 person marathon Relay….and it will be a rather special event. The organizers have substituted the starting gun with the sounds of a Native American Drum circle and the sight and songs of Tribal Dancers. The start point will be at the base of the Crazy Horse Memorial Monument, follow the Mickelson trail and conclude on the historic streets of Hill City.
If there are any members of BHCFE who would like to run or walk in the marathon they can get further information and register at RunCrazyHorse.com. or contact me, Joe Saracco at joes@bhcfe.org .
Thanks & stretch those muscles…
